*Kela reimbursement and patient share
Dokport claims the €8 Kela reimbursement for a chat consultation on your behalf and deducts it from the total price you pay. Your out‑of‑pocket share after the Kela reimbursement starts from €0.
Kela reimburses, under the Health Insurance Act, part of the costs charged by private healthcare providers for necessary medical treatment. During each remote consultation, the doctor assesses whether the treatment qualifies for reimbursement under the health insurance scheme. The necessity of the treatment is always a prerequisite for reimbursement. Necessary treatment refers to care provided for illness, pregnancy, or childbirth in accordance with generally accepted good medical practice. The “Current Care Guidelines,” “Choosing Wisely recommendations,” “Access to Care criteria,” and the healthcare service selection represent good medical practice. Issuing a medical certificate for sick leave is reimbursable by Kela if the certificate is written for a benefit under the Health Insurance Act (such as sickness allowance). If the sick leave certificate is issued for an insurance company, travel arrangements, or another reason, the visit is not reimbursable by Kela. Kela may reject a reimbursement claim, for example, for the following reasons:
- the visit was not related to a medical need;
- Kela considers the service non‑reimbursable on medical grounds or classifies it as general health counselling;
- You have used a remote consultation more than once on the same day (Kela reimburses only one remote contact per day).
If Kela issues a negative reimbursement decision, Dokport will subsequently invoice you for the €8 that was previously deducted, plus a €10 administration fee.
